Coco

Where would the fashion world be without Coco Chanel? I recently watched “Coco Chanel" starring Shirley MacLaine, on T.V. It wasn’t horribly bad, but unfortunately felt very made for tv-ish. What I am really looking forward to is the French release of the biopic “Coco Avant Chanel”. This French dialogue film (apparently with no English subtitles – I will need to take a French crash course!) stars Audrey Tatou (you may remember her as the quirky lead character in Amelie) as ‘Gabrielle’ Coco herself. I have high hopes for her performance - I find her to be a likable and talented actress and think she will do wonders with this role.

Added bonus: Word has it that Karl Lagerfeld; Creative Director for the House of Chanel will be overseeing the recreations of the acclaimed designer’s attire for the film. The release date is April 22nd in France and unfortunately there is no word on when the North American release will be. I will have to be patient, but I really can’t wait to see it!

Some iconic Chanel looks that paved the way for what is and forever will be classic…

Spring Fling!

Wow, another cold, wintery day in this season called "spring"??!! Since these chilly temperatures will be sticking around for a while, I like to visually stimulate myself and create the feeling of warmth; imagining days to come of frolicking in the sun! Here are a few images I enjoy - whether it be a crisp white room, sweet smelling blossoms, vacationing in a quaint European town or sexy floral dresses!

"It's spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you've got it, you want - oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so"!

Exotic April!

I’m always scouring for just about everything, especially new products . There’s nothing like discovering something unique and spreading the word of just how great (or not!) it is! Just recently I was introduced to a new hair product by my salon, which I have fallen in love with! It’s called Moroccan Oil and just the sound of it takes me away to an exotic locale! The scent of it is sweet and mysterious and instantly transports me to a Mediterranean seaside. The particular product I use is called the Original Moroccan Oil and is a styling, finishing and conditioning product for all hair types. It’s a product you apply while your hair is still damp and once your hair has dried, gives you the shiniest and most luxurious locks you’ve seen in a long time! Your hair deserves a bit of pampering, especially with this tough and harsh winter it’s experienced.

Here is the link to discover the entire line…enjoy!

Freshen up!

As this cold winter weather endures, I think everyone is trying to stay as optimistic as possible about the warmer days that lie ahead. Here it is April 3rd and it seems to be much colder and windier than I remember April being. I took a brisk morning walk only to return with the inside of my ears aching from the cold. Until the weather warms up to spring like temperatures, here are some ideas to bring spring optimism & rejuvenation into these lingering winter days...

* Incorporate some brighter colours and lighter fabrics into your wardrobe, shed the wools for something lighter and prettier. Opt for a canary green cardigan with a neutral outfit, instead of the drab grey or black ones you've worn all winter long!
* Zest up your water! Add a few slices of lemon, lime and orange to a water jug and fill it with either filtered, bottled or even tap water. In addition to that also try tossing in a few apple slices. These are all great ways to freshen the routine of your daily water intake!
* Room Mists and Reed Diffusers are a great way to awaken your senses and come in a variety of glorious scents. Some of my favourite spring scents are Votivo Clean Crisp White; Seda France Alabaster Lily just to name a few.

If you have any ideas for welcoming in spring please let me know!

~ cheers to freshening up!
